Overview

The smallest and lowest-cost model in the J-Link family, intended for education. Its compact form factor is easy to mount on a board and gives low-cost access to the main J-Link functions, centered on SWD.

Key features

  • Smallest and lowest cost, for non-commercial (educational) use
  • JTAG/SWD (up to 4 MHz), with the main J-Link functions
  • Small board-style form factor, handy for evaluation and experiments
  • Commercial use not permitted (for commercial use, choose BASE / PLUS, etc.)

Suited to learning and small-scale evaluation.

J-Link EDU Mini is a hardware probe for on-chip debugging from SEGGER. It connects to the target MCU through debug interfaces such as JTAG/SWD to control program execution, set breakpoints, inspect memory and registers, and program flash. It is used throughout embedded software development, from early bring-up to fault analysis.

Technical Details

Technical details

Connection and debug method

Connects to the target MCU's debug port (JTAG/SWD) to halt, run, and single-step the CPU core. Supports hardware breakpoints and watchpoints, reading and writing memory and registers, and programming flash memory.

Where it fits in the development flow

Used throughout embedded development: from bring-up right after power-on (checking clock and pin settings) to stepping through the application, live variable monitoring, and verifying programming before production.

IDE and tool integration

Works with the main IDEs and GDB-based debug environments. It fits easily into an existing flow, and one probe covers several MCU families — a practical advantage.
